My Space…Grosvenor Park.
SEEN Grosvenor Park Photographic Workshop.
Project commissioned by Chester City Council as part of the Parks For People Project Summer 2007.
The project involved a childrens (8 to 12 years) photographic workshop In Grosvenor Park 16th June 2007. The children where supplied with disposable cameras, and after a preparatory on talk on how to take a good photograph and what to look for they were accompanied to Grosvenor Park. The children were asked to take a number of photographs of what they did and did not like about the park. The children were assembled at several points during the proceedings and asked to shout out their thoughts so far on what they had seen and photographed. These quotes were noted down by Paul Hyde the City Council Interpretations Officer. One photograph of like and one of dislike by each child was then chosen and, accompanied by a collection of the children’s quotes, was exhibited in the children’s area of Chester City Library 12th july to 30th September 2007 . A series of documentary photographs of the workshop was also displayed to tell the story of the day.
Allotments Project
January 2007 – to date.
The idea of the project was to create documentary and interpretive images of the life and development of Hoole allotments, resulting in a series of exhibitions. The first exhibition was staged in April 2008 at Chester History and Heritage. The exhibition later moved to the Lord Mayors Mansion House, Abbey Square, Chester July - November 2008.
Youth Federation Photographic workshops
Six half-day digital photographic workshops at the Viking Centre and Youth Club, Rockferry for unemployed teenage men. The participants took photographs at various locations around the merseyside area and then were assisted in processing selected images using adobe photoshop. Each individual ended up with several final images which were used in their portfolios and as part of an end of project exhibition. June - July 2007

Two half-day photographic workshops for the Young Mothers group at The Hub, Ellesmere Port. The participants were given digital cameras and encouraged to take photographs that reflected their lives. The photographs were shown as part of an exhibition at The Boat Museum, Ellesmere Port in December 2006. The group is run by the Youth Federation and the workshops were commissioned by Art for Arts Sake as part of the For the Fun of Community Arts festival in October 2006.
Cyanotype Workshop.
A cyanotype workshop for adult arts enthusiasts was held at the Brindley Arts Centre, Runcorn. Participants were provided with a prepared cyanotype solution and instructed in the digital production of negatives, preparation and application to a suitable surface, the exposure of the prepared material and final development. Narrow Ribbons of Winding Water
The project, commissioned by Cultmark UK and Chester City Council, took place over the summer of 2005 and involved a photographic study of the canal system between Chester and Ellesmere Port. A collection of framed prints was produced and exhibited at Chester History and Heritage from September to November 2005 and at Ellesmere Port Boat Museum between July and November 2006. The City Council is hoping to tour the exhibition to other venues in the future.
A photographic workshop took place at Ellesmere Port Boat Museum in July 2006 as part of the project. Twelve children from Ellesmere Port took part. They were provided with disposable cameras and encouraged to capture their own personal view of the museum and canal system. The results were scanned and printed to form a display to accompany the commissioned exhibition at Chester History and Heritage in St Michael’s Church, Bridge Street Row, Chester.
Chester Amphitheatre Project
Project photographer at the Chester Amphitheatre excavations over three Summer seasons from 2004 to 2006. The work produced was made up of documentary and interpretive images. An exhibition of some of the work is currently on view at The Chester Visitors Centre.

An introduction to printing
A series of workshops for children, introducing them to various printing techniques. At Chester History and Heritage, St Michaels Church, Bridge Street Row East, Chester in February 2004.
Chester and District Festival of Trees.
Documented the production of a number of site specific public artworks in open spaces around Chester, commissioned by Chester and District Festival of Trees.
A final collaborative work by all the artists was produced over 2 days at Chester Racecourse.
The Bettws Art Project
A series of bi-weekly theatre and visual arts workshops involving people with physical and learning difficulties for Gwent Council. An exhibition featuring artwork, video and photography opened at Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre in April 1995 and then toured throughout Wales until August 1996. |
